Prayer Requests and updates

So sorry it's been awhile since I updated the site...so I'll post all prayer requests given since the last update, because even if they've been answered, we have praise to give!

Also, it's been awhile since we did pizza for dinner...so I think we'll do Papa John's this week. Please confirm whether you will attend this week so that I can determine how much to order! Let's say $10 per couple and that will take care of the pizza, drinks, salad and more paper goods.

February 17 requests:
Mike Temple is sick.
Mark's parents are sick.
Liz has an evaluation coming up at work.
Mandy's friend Lisa, who is going through invitro fertilization.
The new Pulford Parents, and Eli as they adjust to life being home without family.

God answered prayer for Mark's mom

My prayers have been answered again!!! Clean PET scan. Dr. Packard said this is truly a miracle, he doesn't know of one other case of IBC that has metastasized and hasn't recurred again within a year. He said this just doesn't happen, also I am the only one that the Insurance company just approved every PET, CT,Bone scan with no letter written. God has been good to us. I am just overwhelmed right now. Love you all, MOM

Welcome Elijah James

Congrats to Tom and Ali Pulford who, at 5:53 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, became the proud parents of a baby boy! Elijah James came extremely quickly, weighing in at 6 lbs, 7 oz and 19.5 inches long. Tom, Ali and Elijah will be at Penrose Community Hospital until Thursday morning and welcome visitors!

Prayer Requests

Andrew (Erin's 2-year old nephew) and their family as he deals with rare blood disorder.
Adam and Rachel Anderson as they go through the adoption process with three troubled siblings.
Tom and Ali as they anticipate the arrival of Baby Pulford!
Tim and Amy Ottaway as they prepare for their Guatemala mission trip
Mandi is having an MRI on her wrist--still hurts
That God will reveal himself to Mandi's family as her neice is baptized.

The schedule for the next few weeks:

1/20--NO SMALL GROUP--Enjoy the MLK 3-day weekend! The movie Bella is playing at the dollar theatre. Does anyone want to go see it on Saturday or Sunday? Times are 12:25pm, 2:40pm and 4:50pm

1/27--It looks as if at least 3 couples will be out of town, so we will reschedule Tom Doyle for a later date. For those of you that will be in town, do you want to get together for dinner or a social event?

2/3--Superbowl Party at the Winland's Home (watch for evite from Mandi)

For the month of February, we will meet at the Winland's home. Cami and Eli will have a house full of guests for the entire month.

Saturday 2/9--Care and Share weekend! We'll meet for lunch at Powers Panera Bread at 11:30, and then off to Care and Share warehouse at 2520 Aviation Way off south Powers.

Soccer Balls for Ottaway Mission Trip

Former Small Group Members Request Help

Dear Life Groups of Mountain Springs Church,

My husband and I are leading another mission team to Guatemala at the end of this month. We are asking for your help to collect a few medical and children’s ministry supplies for our mission trip departing on January 24th. All items collected must be dropped off by Tuesday, Jan 22nd so we can pack! Consider if your life group would be able to help us. We still need:
hotel-sized
shampoos/conditioners/lotions/soaps
washcloths
combs
Advil/Tylenol –really expensive in Guatemala
plastic baggies – Ziploc-type sandwich or snack size
color crayons (new or used)
small toys for kids
balls, basketball, soccer (deflate please)

Looking for other ways to help? Consider helping with the expense of our medical supplies of $600, already ordered and a big portion of our budget. The children’s ministry supplies are $130, for paper/copies, art supplies, balloons, etc. We also purchased the Jesus film DVDs in multiple dialects, for $90, to show everywhere we go. Most especially, please pray for our team! Our ministry team is comprised of half Americans and half Guatemalans serving their own people!

I still need volunteers for the setting up and the distributing of toys for the families being ministered to by Helping Hands. On the 17th starting at about 9:00 A.M. Pat and Dick would appreciate a few people to help set up tables, decorate the Christmas tree, mark gifts etc… Then on the 18th, 19th and 20th from 9-4 I’m looking for people who would be willing to fill a two hour time slot. You do not need to come in pairs. Pat will be there the entire time so we are simply assisting her. We will have the joy of helping these precious people pick out gifts for their families. Please give me a call at 550-0616 and I will get you signed up for a time.

Erin's mom (Sherry) will have knee surgery on Monday, December 10.
Erin's uncle (Mike) will have shoulder surgery sometime in the next two weeks.
YWAM/New Life Church tragedies--all involved and affected
Teachers in group (Tom/Ali/Heather) all experience "extra grace required" to survive the holiday season with students.
Brian, Matt, and Eli traveling for work this week.
PRAISE!!! Mike's Dad is home from hospital after hip replacement and doing well.
PRAISE!!! Cami just passed her one-year after health crisis and angioplasties!
PRAISE!!! Liz's birthday is this week! Happy Birthday!

The Divinely Predicted Miracle of Christmas

Tonight's lesson, taught by Eli, walked through the Old Testament prophesies that predicted Jesus' birth, according to the Gospel of Matthew. We started with Jesus' geneology, and the significance of the fact that Matthew included four 'tainted' women in the geneology.

Tamar (Genesis 38)
Rahab (Joshua 2)
Ruth (a Moabite--Genesis 19)
Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11)

Significant old testament prophesies regarding Christ's birth:

Isaiah 7:14-->Matthew 1:18-24
Michah 5:2-->Matthew 2:1-13
Hosea 11:1-->Matthew 2:14-15
Jeremiah 31:15-->Matthew 2:16-23

As we enter the Christmas season, keep in mind the real reason behind all the festivities, and remember that Christ's arrival was divinely orchestrated by the Lord our God, and spoken through the prophets who had complete faith in God.

God's Schedule for the Young Married's (revised AGAIN)

December 14 at 7:00pm--Mountain Springs Church proudly presents an all-original play, Following the Light (see http://www.mountainsprings.org/msc244w3/eventdetails.cfm?EventID=350&hbc=b2a58b&shbc=ffffff&shtc=000000&htc=ffffff#350) Please let Mandi know by December 12 if you plan to attend so that we can sit together as a group.
December 15 at 10:30am--Wynwood Nursing Home (2780 Vickers Dr.) We will sing Christmas carols (Ali will play the piano) and deliver gifts to the 64 residents. Each couple should bring ten small wrapped gifts (no candy/food) to distribute.
December 16--NO SMALL GROUP
December 19 at 6:30pm--Girls meet at the Winland's Home for a cookie exchange and guys meet at the Bremer's Home for game night.
December 23--Christmas Party!!! We will meet at Buca di Beppo at 6:00. Bring a small gift ($10 per person) for a gift exchange.
December 24--Christmas Eve dinner at the Bremer's home for anyone who doesn't have family in town.
December 29 at 11:30--meet at the Bremer's Home, where we will carpool to a quick lunch and then on to Care and Share foodbank for a great time of serving and sorting! Plan to be there until 3:00, and please wear tennis shoes and long pants.
December 31--New Year's Eve party at the Winland's
January 6 at 1:00pm--potluck dinner and Crown Financial by Laurie Bossert
