The Divinely Predicted Miracle of Christmas

Tonight's lesson, taught by Eli, walked through the Old Testament prophesies that predicted Jesus' birth, according to the Gospel of Matthew. We started with Jesus' geneology, and the significance of the fact that Matthew included four 'tainted' women in the geneology.
  • Tamar (Genesis 38)
  • Rahab (Joshua 2)
  • Ruth (a Moabite--Genesis 19)
  • Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11)

Significant old testament prophesies regarding Christ's birth:

  • Isaiah 7:14-->Matthew 1:18-24
  • Michah 5:2-->Matthew 2:1-13
  • Hosea 11:1-->Matthew 2:14-15
  • Jeremiah 31:15-->Matthew 2:16-23

As we enter the Christmas season, keep in mind the real reason behind all the festivities, and remember that Christ's arrival was divinely orchestrated by the Lord our God, and spoken through the prophets who had complete faith in God.
